Lotus Ultrasonic Scalpel
SRA Developments’ Lotus innovative torsion technology has redefined and revolutionized the field of ultrasonic soft tissue dissection. It represents the most efficient and haemostatic ultrasonic dissector.

The Lotus system combines this superior performance with pioneering ergonomic design (Palm-fit grip, Spring-loaded Trigger) And functional features ( Finger Activation, Curved Rotating Shears, Dual Channel Generator ).

It directs the powerful energy towards the target tissue where the surgeon needs it. This rapid energy transfer makes Lotus faster, safer and easier to use.

Key Features and Specifications

Lotus directs compression energy into the target tissue. Energy is transferred quickly, denaturing the tissue protein and rapidly forming a coagulum. At the same time the central blade cuts through the tissue as the Teflon jaw is closed. The result is fast, haemostatic cutting.
Traditionally ultrasonic scalpels have the opposite properties to a torsional waveguide. Their powerful compression forces are present at the tip of the active blade and the weaker frictional forces are used to cut and coagulate. This explains the slow cutting of these longitudinal systems and highlights the danger that powerful compression energy is directed away from the cut site. This is known as “distal-drilling” and can potentially damage vital structures without the surgeon’s knowledge.
The torsional waveguide is much safer as it only has weak frictional forces at the tip of the active blade.
